It isn't where you came from, it's where you're going that counts.
In life we are constantly faced with challenges, both in a professional and personal capacity. Always believe in yourself and always stretch yourself beyond your limits. Your life is worth a lot more than you think because you are capable of accomplishing more than you know. You have more potential than you think, but you will never know your full potential unless you keep challenging yourself and pushing beyond your own self imposed limits. If you limit your choice only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise. The choices you make now, the people you surround yourself with, they all have the potential to affect your life, even who you are, forever.
The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand. Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.
Leadership is not about a title or a designation. It's about impact, influence and inspiration. Impact involves getting results. Influence is about spreading the passion you have for your work. It is essential to employ, trust and reward those whose perspective, ability and judgment are radically different from yours. It is also rare, for it requires uncommon humility, tolerance, and wisdom.
Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them. They stay focused on their past successes rather than their past failures. They also stay focused on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfillment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them.
All growth depends upon activity. There is no development physically or intellectually without effort and effort means work. This is our history - from the Transcontinental Railroad to the Hoover Dam, to the dredging of our ports and building of our most historic bridges - our American ancestors prioritized growth and investment in our nation's infrastructure.
